The Heath

We’re incredibly grateful to Tom and Edie Sisson for their generous donation of a public access easement on 188 acres of land in Limerick and Cornish, Maine, near Route 5.

The Heath (pronounced “Haith”) is a truly special place, boasting a beautiful wetland and at least seven rare plant species. This conservation effort was made possible through the support of the Davis Conservation Foundation, the Fields Pond Foundation, and the William P. Wharton Trust, which granted funds for surveying, stewardship, and legal costs.

A neighboring landowner also graciously granted permission for a portion of the foot trail on their property, allowing us to construct a complete loop around the wetland. The conservation deed for this significant property was finalized in September of 2011, and we’re thrilled to now welcome visitors to explore the Heath Loop Trail.

Come and experience the natural beauty and unique ecology of this remarkable preserve!
